Dr. Micheal Clark, DPT, MS, PT, CES, PES, CPT, is recognized as one of the top physical therapists in the industry. He joined NASM as president, chief executive officer and partner in March 2000. An industry visionary, he is the creator of NASM’s exclusive Optimum Performance Training™ (OPT) method used by thousands of health and fitness professionals worldwide. Clark’s innovation and leadership have redefined NASM as a global leader and authority in education for fitness, performance and sports-medicine professionals that empowers individuals to live active and healthy lives.

Clark has rehabilitated, reconditioned and trained hundreds of professional and amateur elite athletes. His list of athlete-clients includes a MLB Cy Young award winner, world champion figure skaters, NBA All-Stars, NBA Rookies of the Year, NBA Most Valuable Players, NFL All-Pros, The World’s Strongest Man, national champions, Olympic gold medalists and hall of fame athletes. He is currently the team physical therapist to the NBA’s Phoenix Suns and adjunct faculty for the master’s of science in injury prevention and performance enhancement with the California University of Pennsylvania.

Clark enjoys golf, basketball and reading. He lives in Chandler, Arizona with his wife, Melissa, and their three daughters.

Within the health-and-fitness industry, Mark Mastrov is considered a pioneer, innovator and worldwide visionary. He is credited with not only introducing industry-leading fitness club designs and services such as around-the-clock access, month-to-month memberships and electronic monthly billing, but also with innovative partnerships and sponsorships. From the US Olympic Team, free after school programs for high school athletes, partnering with celebrities to open co-branded clubs, supporting NBC’s innovative reality television program the “Biggest Loser,” and pioneering fitness in numerous countries around the world, Mastrov has seen and done it all in his 25+ year career within the industry.

Mastrov is the founder of 24 Hour Fitness Worldwide, Inc., which he grew to the world’s largest fitness company, serving more than 3.5 million members in the U.S. and Asia. In addition to 24 Hour Fitness, Mastrov has built some of the world’s best known International fitness brands, whose combined operations exceed 500 locations worldwide. He is the founder of Planet Fitness Russia, Energy Fitness Chile, Mrs. Sporty Germany, YogaWorks USA, California Wow Thailand, as well as many other health and fitness businesses throughout the world.

In June 2005, Mastrov sold 24 Hour Fitness Worldwide for $1.68 billion – the largest sum in industry history – remaining chairman with a substantial stake in the company.

Mastrov left the company in January of 2008 to pursue new interests for people of all fitness levels and abilities around the world.


Neal Spruce

Neal is the founder and CEO of dotFIT, LLC. Neal is a fitness specialist, author, licensed teacher, researcher, bodybuilding champion, personal fitness consultant and speaker. Spruce is chairman of the board for the prestigious National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and founder of dotFIT, LLC, the online fitness and nutrition authority that provides innovative fitness solutions for all goals and age groups to fitness facilities and consumers all over the world. Prior to creating dotFIT, Spruce founded Apex Fitness, a research and development company that eventually became part of Fitness Holdings World Wide, the parent company of 24 Hour Fitness USA, Inc. While with Apex, Spruce and his team developed fitness programs used in over 1500 fitness facilities worldwide, currently serving over 500,000 new participants annually.

Spruce also created the revolutionary bodybugg® calorie management system, which in 2005 received the “Best of What’s New in Personal Health” award from Popular Science and was featured on NBC’s hit television show, The Biggest Loser.

Spruce holds a health and fitness teaching credential from the State of California. He developed the nutrition curricula for the Apex Fitness Systems and NASM personal trainer certification programs.

A nationally recognized nutrition and fitness expert, Spruce delivers more than 100 lectures annually on fitness-related topics. He has been a featured speaker on more than 300 radio and television talk shows and hosted his own television fitness show in San Francisco.


Ben Tucker

Ben Tucker joined NASM in 2003, where he served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing and was responsible for all business development activities and revenue-generating programs during a period of NASM’s rapid growth. Under his leadership NASM tripled its revenue and grew to become the leading fitness certification company and fitness education brand in the world. He has been instrumental in leading teams to forge new growth markets for NASM including the Academic and International channels which have NASM positioned for long-term strategic growth.

Previously, Ben played baseball at the University of Southern California and in the San Francisco Giants organization. He received a BA from the University of Southern California. He lives in Chandler, Arizona with his wife and their four children. He remains involved in competitive athletics as a coach of youth baseball, basketball and soccer teams, and is involved in raising funds for the Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
